About Us

After years of planning, Canada’s first Elevated Park officially opened to the public in 2017, complete with safety railings, public art, plantings, and seating areas. The trail connecting King Street to the Elevated Park is fully accessible.
In 2019, the boardwalk was completed end-to-end, featuring additional safety railings, a fully accessible sidewalk, plantings, and more seating areas.
By 2020, the Western Trail opened, extending the pathway from King Street in St. Thomas to Lyle Road in Southwold—covering a total of 4 km.
In 2024, work began on the Arboretum Line, an ambitious project to plant native trees along the Western Trail.

The Elevated Park is part of the Railworks Coalition, a community group of railway heritage properties that have come together for the joint benefit of preserving and protecting St. Thomas and area's rail assets.

Also included in this group is the Canada Southern Station (CASO), the Elgin County Railway Museum (ECRM), and the North American Railway Hall of Fame (NARFH).
