About Us

Elgin-St. Thomas Christmas Care operates annually from November through December, providing support to individuals and families throughout Southwold, Central Elgin, St. Thomas, Oneida Nation of the Thames, and surrounding communities. Through its Christmas assistance program, eligible residents can register to receive food hampers and gifts for children and teens, helping make the holiday season brighter for those facing financial challenges.

Since 1980, Christmas Care has been committed to supporting low-income families across St. Thomas and Elgin County. Registered families receive a festive food hamper that includes essential holiday meal items such as cereal, cookies, canned goods, apples, potatoes, and a choice of turkey or ham to help create a complete Christmas dinner.

The program is made possible through the generosity of individuals, schools, churches, businesses, community organizations, and dedicated volunteers who donate food, toys, funds, and countless hours of their time. Strong partnerships with local groups, including the St. Thomas Police and Fire Departments, Lions Clubs, Kinsmen, Rotary Clubs, and many others, are vital to the program’s success.

As community needs continue to grow, Christmas Care relies on ongoing support to ensure no family is left behind during the holiday season. Donations truly make a difference. The organization is proud to direct 99 cents of every dollar received back into the community, ensuring contributions have a direct and meaningful impact on local families in need.

Help Christmas Care continue making the season brighter for families throughout Elgin County and St. Thomas.
